Michael J. Del Medico is a shareholder with Scanlon & Gearinger Company, L.P.A. and a co-managing partner of the firm. He represents plaintiffs in cases involving medical malpractice, wrongful death, personal injury, and product liability litigation.

After graduating from Brown University in 1977, Mike received his J.D. in 1980 from the University of Dayton. He joined Scanlon & Gearinger that same year and became a shareholder in 1985.

Mike has taught Trial Advocacy and is frequently asked to guest lecture at the University of Akron School of Law. He has served as president of the Summit County Trial Lawyers Association (1989-1991) and on its Board of Trustees. Mike also belongs to numerous other professional organizations.

Community and civic involvement is very important to Mike. He serves on the executive board of the Blick Clinic which serves people with developmental disabilities. He is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of Archbishop Hoban High School and an active member of St. Vincent Church.

He resides in Akron with his wife, Mary Ann. Their two children, Caitlin and Michael, Jr., attend Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.

May 9, 2006 Wrongful death of 52-year-old woman killed in head-on collision, mediated for $850,000. Haun v. Sullivan.
January 26, 2006 Jury awards $450,000 to 28-year-old woman who sustained multiple injuries in "road rage" case. Studer v. Weber.
December 1, 2005 Employer intentional tort case for 39-year-old man whose arm was amputated in machine resolved through mediation. $1.8 million. Hollingsworth v. E.C. Morris Chemicals, et al.
October 4, 2005 Settlement for 37-year-old man who sustained spinal fractures in motor vehicle collision. $590,000. Laury v. A.I.G.
May 27, 2004 Wrongful death of 17-year-old girl killed in intersection collision with poorly maintained steel-hauling truck. Resolved through mediation for $1.01 million. Ramer v. Heritage Express.
March 18,2003 Wrongful death of 51-year-old woman who receives fatal dose of Demerol after hysterectomy resolved through mediation. $2.9 million. Black v. A.G.M.C.
December 13, 2002 Woman ejected through side window in motor vehicle collision. Injuries included multiple facial lacerations and fractures as well as injuries to leg and feet. Settled for $800,000. Benton v. Carpenter.
April 19, 2002 Sixteen-year-old killed in motor vehicle collision resolved through mediation, $800,000. Mascola v. Miller.
January 25, 2002 Wrongful death of 39-year-old killed in North Carolina while changing a tire. Family settles for $990,000. Defendant truck driver fell asleep, drifted off road, struck, and killed plaintiff's decedent. Chowning v. Yoder Bros.
July 1, 2001 Medical malpractice case involving failure to insert NG tube during surgery resulting in aspiration, pneumonia, and multiple complications. Plaintiff was 70 years old. Settled for $900,000. Sabin w. Westbranch Anesthesia, et al.
May 20, 2001 Jury awards $287,080 to 35-year-old man for injuries in auto collision. Hutchison v. State Auto, et al.
September 19, 2000 Family settles medical malpractice case involving stillbirth of a twin for $500,000. Dansbury v. A.G.M.C.
April 17, 2000 Multiple family members settle personal injury claims totaling $550,000 in case involving a stunt boat which leaves lake and crashes into bleachers at Sea World Amusement Park. Chapman v. Sea World.
September 28, 1999 Family settles wrongful death case involving death of 27-year-old killed in motor vehicle collision when truck makes improper lane change. $1.8 million. Smrekar v. Specialty Tires.
February 26, 1997 Jury in Summit County awards $500,000 for wrongful death of 20-year-old woman in motor vehicle collision. Whims v. Nationwide.
November 17, 1995 $335,000 awarded to woman in underinsured motorist case.
November 14, 1995 Family settles wrongful death case involving death of 40-year-old nurse killed in plane crash in Augusta, Georgia, for $1.196 million. Matthei v. American Eagle.
April 1992 Jury in Summit County awards $1.1 million to 9-year-old and family for closed head injury. Lawver v. Nationwide Insurance, et al.
August 20, 1991 Jury in Dayton, Ohio, awards family $2.5 million for misdiagnosis of thyroid condition. Thompson v. Vitols, D.O.
