Maura E. Scanlon has been with Scanlon & Gearinger Company, L.P.A. since 1988.
She represents injury victims in cases involving automobile collisions, insurance disputes, medical negligence, nursing home negligence, and wrongful death.
A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in 1985 with a B.A. in Economics, Maura earned her J.D. from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in 1988.
Maura has been actively involved in various professional organizations. As a member of the Akron Bar Association, she has served as a member of the Board of Trustees (1999-2002), the Long Range Planning Committee (2004-2005), the Lawyer Referral Service Committee (chairperson, 1998-2000), and the Investigative Subcommittee of the Grievance Committee (2004-present). Maura was elected to the Council of Delegates (District 11) for the Ohio State Bar Association in 2006, and is a member of the Scanlon Inn of Court (2005-present). Maura also occasionally serves as a guest lecturer at the University of Akron, and previously volunteered time as a judge to critique and advise students in appellate advocacy at Case Western Reserve University School of Law.
Community involvement has always been extremely important to Maura, who is currently a sustaining member of the Junior League of Akron, having been an active member from 1988 through 1998. Maura has served on the Board of Directors for North Akron Savings Bank since 2004. She currently also serves on the Board of Directors for a local children's theater group, The Illusion Factory (2005-present). Previous volunteer commitments include the Board of Trustees for the Ohio Ballet (1997-2000);
the Associate Board of Directors for the American Cancer Society in Summit County (1995-1997); Our Lady of the Elms School Board (1994-1997); volunteer driver for Mobile Meals in Summit County (1989-1994); and an assistant coach for girls' softball in the West Akron Baseball League (1992-1993).
Maura resides in Akron with her husband, James Bozzelli, and their two children.
