Timothy F. Scanlon and Buck Gearinger formed the law firm of Scanlon & Gearinger in 1979. Since then, Tim has practiced mainly in the areas of product liability, personal injury, medical malpractice, and wrongful death.
Graduating from the College of the Holy Cross in 1959, he received his J.D. in 1961 from the University of Michigan and was an Order of the Coif Member. His legal career began with the law firm of Buckingham, Doolittle and Burroughs. In 1975, he opened his own practice. Four years later, he joined with co-founding shareholder Buck Gearinger to create the current firm of Scanlon & Gearinger.
For 30 years, Tim has been widely regarded as one of the preeminent lawyers in Ohio. Tim has served as the president of the Akron Bar Association (1980-1981) and has been a member of numerous professional organizations. Tim has argued several cases before the Supreme Court of Ohio. He was able to persuade the Court to change existing law in cases such as
Savage v. Correlated Health Services; Physicians Insurance Company of Ohio v. Swanson; and Sexton v. State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company.
Tim has tried numerous personal injury cases, many of which
